Abdulmajid Karanouh, head of advanced interdisciplinary design and innovation at consultancy Drees & Sommer, joined Construction Week Viewpoint to discuss the technologies that could help shape the future of Middle East construction.
Karanouh, who joined the German outfit in 2018, spoke about the attractiveness of Saudi Arabia’s $500bn (SAR1.9tn) gigaproject Neom, artificial intelligence in construction, and how sustainable and energy-efficient buildings can be developed using advanced construction materials.
“I am personally very interested in [Neom], and so is Drees & Sommer,” he said.
“There is a lot of room and opportunities for research and development, and innovation [with projects like Neom].”
