Selex to reduce carbon footprint in UAE

Inayat-ur-Rahman

Selex, a 25-year-old conglomerate, aims to reduce the carbon footprint in the UAE by expanding its operations in the renewable energy products by 2020. Selex provides alternative energy solutions and green technology for residential, commercial and industrial applications. The company plans to introduce its latest range of renewable energy products by the second quarter of next year through its strong dealer network in UAE of over 500.

UAE is marching ahead in the fields of renewable energy and its sustainability goals. As per reports, the Supreme Council of Energy has also set a strategy to reduce carbon emissions by 16 per cent, which is equivalent to reducing 11 million tonnes of carbon dioxide by 2021.

“We are on a mission to reduce the carbon footprint in the UAE and GCC countries and help protect the planet.  We will leave no stone unturned to support the environment and the very first step that we are embarking on is state-of-the-art renewable energy products. We have already ensured that the LED products in our portfolio produce maximum energy with the lowest power consumption, resulting in reduction of carbon footprint. We have just completed 25 years in the GCC, and we are striving to make new beginnings by introducing some of the most innovative energy efficient products,” said Noushad Abdul Rahiman, Managing Director, Selex.

With manufacturing facilities around the globe, Selex is one of the largest and fastest growing electrical equipment and lighting manufacturing companies with branches across Middle East, UK, China and India.

“We are confident with regard to the UAE market and the country is on course to set an example for the world. Collective focus on renewable energy has become extremely crucial, as we are seeing some of the most challenging times with regard to the changing weather patterns. Climate change will require serious action from all the stakeholders, including governments and other entities, right from the grass root level.”
